I started crewing in a Star when I was ten years old on Lake Springfield, Illinois USA. I raced my first boat, Jaws, with my High School friend and won the Green Star when I was 16 years old. We have all levels of racing in our family, from a World Champion (my brother Joe Londrigan) to young club racers, men and women, boys and girls, skippers and crews (over 15 family members over the years). We have had four Londrigan boats on the same World Championship starting line (1997 Marblehead) and we still race every week at our local club.
I spent last summer during the pandemic working on several boats in our fleet and we grew our fleet to 10 boats. This summer I focused on crew development, and I have been training four new young crews, all in their 20’s and new to sailing. Keeping our equipment up to date and training new sailors is part of the recipe for keeping our Class strong.
